Work permit for Denmark - process, requirements and fee.

Are you looking to apply for a work permit to Denmark? Then let Globe Advokater help you with the process. We can assist companies looking to hire or individual applying for a work permit.

Work permit Denmark

A work permit is a legal requirement for non-EU/EEA citizens who want to work in Denmark. It grants both the right to reside and the right to work for a specific employer under a defined scheme. Applications are filed through the Danish Immigration Service (SIRI) at nyidanmark.dk.

Pay Limit scheme

The Pay Limit scheme (Beløbsordningen) grants a work permit when the annual salary meets a fixed threshold. In 2026 the minimum is DKK 552,000. The threshold is regulated on 1 January each year. Salary and contract terms must be documented in full.

Fast track scheme

The Fast Track scheme allows certified Danish employers to hire highly qualified foreign employees quickly. Once your employer is approved, the application can be processed within a very short timeframe, and the employee can begin work almost immediately.

Positive List

The Positive List covers professions with a shortage of qualified labour in Denmark. If your job title is on the list, the requirements are lighter than under other schemes. We assess whether the position qualifies and gather documentation for education and experience.
